My consulting practice is designed to help early-stage business-facing SaaS companies engage prospects and current customers, drive subscriptions, and accelerate their acquisition funnels. I partner with fast-growing companies to build marketing programs that generate new leads and opportunities and drive revenue growth.

About Me

I have led marketing teams at six startups successfully acquired by top companies, including Autodesk, Atlassian, Zuora, and HG Insights. I created and executed marketing strategies for three self-funded B2B SaaS startups that were each rapidly acquired in the same year (2015). How I Work

In all consulting engagements, my philosophy centers around fostering a collaborative and adaptable partnership. I believe in deeply understanding each client’s unique challenges, tailoring strategies to their specific goals, and maintaining open communication throughout the process. I have served as a nearly full-time fractional marketing leader for some clients, helping them rapidly scale marketing programs to support hitting growth targets, and have also acted as a strategic advisor for specific projects including building out key channels or diagnosing and improving underperforming areas. (Fun fact: I have also joined two of my clients as a full-time employee for multiple years; as I discuss in both of my books, Lead Upwards and Power to the Startup People, consulting can also be a great way to “de-risk” joining a company or hiring a marketing leader.)

As someone who has personally hired many contractors and agencies as an in-house marketing executive, I know that the most valuable resources provide tangible results and work on a deliverables basis. As I am committed to delivering measurable results, rather than work on an hourly basis, I collaborate with clients to scope and execute deliverables-based projects.

  • Targeted Campaigns: Strategizing and executing revenue-focused marketing campaigns across key channels to reach new customers in key markets.
  • Organizational Growth Plans: Developing strategic plans and marketing budgets to fuel growth in target markets, building hiring plans, and organizational charts.
  • Data-Driven Performance Analysis: Conducting in-depth analysis of historical performance, forecasting marketing results by channel, and assessing key performance indicators (KPIs) such as return on investment (ROI) and customer acquisition cost (CAC).
  • RevOps Alignment: Collaborating with RevOps to build the necessary infrastructure, enabling data-driven decision-making on resource allocation, spend optimization, and performance.
  • Team Leadership: Managing cross-functional teams, including in-house FTEs, contractors, and agencies, to execute integrated campaigns, demand generation, content creation (blogs, videos, podcasts, webinars, case studies, thought leadership, newsletters, etc.), website management, business development, events, communications, product marketing, PR, and account-based marketing (ABM) programs.
  • Competitive intelligence and positioning: Conducting competitive analysis and research to power go-to-market programs and develop positioning based on unique value propositions (UVPs).
  • Product Marketing and Sales Enablement: Managing targeted product marketing campaigns to generate leads, create opportunities, and drive revenue growth. 

Hands-On Delivery

  • Execution: Willing to roll up my sleeves and “get it done” when needed – whether it’s adding the finishing touches to a gated asset, building landing pages for an ABM campaign, conducting customer interviews, or hosting a webinar. I navigate with equal ease between the strategic 30,000-foot level (strategy, budgets, headcount and resource planning, and board meetings) and the hands-on “shop floor” level. In early-stage startup engagements, I contribute efficiently as required, acting as a team player to achieve more wins.

Collaborative Alignment

  • Cross-Functional & Board-Level Alignment: Collaborate effectively with Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams to drive revenue growth. Facilitate alignment by working closely with founders and CEOs to effectively communicate momentum, results, and insights to their Boards.

I highly value long-term relationships and am dedicated to providing measurable impact. As a result, I’m humbled to report that nearly all of my consulting clients come from referrals.
